Special Interest Group on the topic of

Internet Phone Calls - (Can you really call Europe for free?)

Want to make free phone calls using the Internet?

In researching this subject I found that other PC User Groups have also looked into this subject. One was from the Sarasota PC Users Group NWA-PCUG Newsletter

Thanks to the Internet and the latest technology, you can actually send packets of information - in this case, your voice - anywhere in the world.

Whether you can call for free or not depends on who you want to call.

There are 2 major categories within V.O.I.P (Voice Over Internet Protocol).

These are voice communication computer to computer and

voice communication telephone to telephone.

(Computer to telephone I consider a sub-category of telephone to telephone as you'll see why later)

First off - this whole topic presumes you already have a broadband Internet connection

(DSL or Cable) and, as we all know, that part isn't free.

Who do you want to call?

If the only people you want to call overseas don't have a computer or high speed Internet, then you must call to their telephone and the easiest way is telephone to telephone.
