As the bottom line of the change from Wes, our webmaster, is to delete all mail from your unit's CP email account, here are some instructions on how to do this.
If these settings are already correct, the only other thing you need to do is delete your spam as described below.
This step can only be done through webmail. Go to the website to check your email (www.covenantplayers.org/webmail) and enter your email address and password and then choose Horde
On the next screen, click on the blue Log in button
You should now see a small menu on the left that looks something like the picture here.
If you click on the + sign next to the word Mail then it will change the screen to give you more choices.
To delete your spam, click on the word spam. You may be surprised that you even have any since you never see it. This means the filter is working and you are not getting all of your junk mail in your Inbox. The trouble is that this needs to be manually deleted.
In the center of the screen you should see all of your junk email (spam) if you have any at all.
In this example, you see a list of emails that are junk.
By reading the subjects that offer low re-financing, Valium, and other products or services I don't want, I agree with the machine that this is all junk and I want to delete it all. Click in the box just under the word Delete.
This will put green check marks in all the boxes and turn the background yellow. The next step is to click on the word Delete and the color will change dark grey with blue lines through all the emails as seen the following picture.
Here is the step that makes CP webmail different from any other webmail you might have used.
You still need to Purge the deleted emails by clicking on the words Purge Deleted on the right side of the screen.
If you have done all of this successfully, you will be rewarded with this screen:
Go back to the left side of the screen and do the same with any of the folders marked "Trash". By the time you get done, you will have no messages in any of the folders.
With all the folders empty, the last step is emptying the Inbox. If, for some reason, you cannot print out your
emails or you want to keep a copy of everything you've sent or received, then you can either
download them to your computer
(by clicking on the words save as in the upper right hand corner of
the message screen which will save the email to your computer as an *.eml file that you can open with
any word processor including notepad and wordpad that come with Windows)
or use another web-based email account.
Many people already have free personal email accounts through Yahoo or Hotmail or Google. These have from 250 MB to 2 GB or storage available to you (as opposed to 2 MB for CP email storage). If you just can't throw away certain emails, then you can forward them to your personal email address. If you do not have one of these and would like one, please email me and I can explain the simple steps to obtaining one.
One reason some people save messages is to quote certain paragraphs or even entire emails from the past into a new email you want to send today. You can still do this with your saved messages being in a different place by using Copy and Paste.
The first step would be to open a new window so you can have both CP email and your personal webmail open at the same time.
Using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, hold down the
key and tap
the
key once and you will open a new browser window. (Basically another copy of your Internet program)
In this one you can have your personal email (ie: mail.yahoo.com) while the other window has your CP account open.
With the magic of Copy and Paste, you can highlight any text you want to use again
and
(copy) then click on the window with CP email started and
(paste)
that text into your CP message.
