COMPUTER Tips and Tricks |
This is Michael Shalkey, your friendly IT guy, and over the
next few weeks I’ll be sharing some tips to help make your computer experience
a little more pleasant.
Email CleanUp
The beginning of mission is a good time to do some basic maintenance.
When you have the opportunity, log onto www.your/webmail.
After entering your yourname@yourmail.org and your password,
choose Horde (NOT Squirrel or NeoMail).
When you choose Horde you'll see this screen:
|
Mail Maintenance Operations – Confirmation q The current folder(s) “sent-main” will be renamed to “sent-mail-Nov-2004” q All old sent-mail folders more than 12 months old will be deleted q All messages in your “trash” folder older than 30 days will be permanently deleted .
|
Check all the boxes and then click on the “Perform Maintenance Operations” button.
When you click on the “Folders” icon, the list you see (Figure 2) will include one called “spam”. If you double click on the word “spam”, it will open and you can make sure that no real emails were put there by accident. If you find that all the emails are junk, then come back to this menu as you did before (clicking the “folders” icon at the top), then check the box next to spam and pull down the arrow to the right of the “Choose Action:” box. (Figure 3) The option you want to choose is “Empty folder(s)”. Do not delete the folder as this will also stop the spam filtering.
