The President's Message

November 2008

Paul Westefer

Remember, the December CIPCUG meeting will be on the third Saturday of the month which is the 20th of December.

You won't want to miss it. A new CIPCUG 4GB Flash Drive described elsewhere in this newsletter and on our Web site will go on sale at that meeting. Also on sale will be CIPCUG membershi ps for the bargain price of only $40 a year for individuals or $55 a year for families. Look at the benefits of membership listed on page 19 of this newsletter. Someone you know would be happy to receive those membership benefits.

The minutes of the November Board of Directors meeting refer to several items of which you need to be aware, see page 3.

One of these is a change in United States Postal Service Regulations.

Effective Nov. 23, U.S. Postal Service regulations went into effect requiring that ALL mailers of First Class and Standard Mail must choose one of three options. The intent is to speed up changes in the National Change of Address (NCOA) database.

After a discussion of the three methods, the CIPCUG Board of Directors voted to adopt Method 1, which is the least expensive and easiest way to comply. CIPCUG simply has to add after the name of the member the words "OR CURRENT RESIDENT" or "OR CURRENT OCCUPANT."

The U.S. Postal Service will not forward this mail or return it to the sender. This means members who move to a new address need to report to Ken Church, our membership chairman, at membership@, or at the monthly meeting.

A new year is almost here, and now is a good time to check on any changes you have made in 2008 which may require not ice. It is especially advisable to check on the beneficiaries listed on your insurance policies, pension plans and other financial documents.

Do you really want to try to explain to your second wife why your first wife is still listed as your beneficiary?
