"Promoting the Harmony of Computer Education, and Camaraderie"

(Immediate Past President James Brown is substituting for President Sandy Tsutsui-Trujillo this month. — Editor)

Our October meeting was very special for a number of reasons: The Q&A session led by Michael and Toby was very helpful and held our interest, and the program arranged by Craig Ladd was a very special one, not only because of the subject matter but also because of the participation of our members reflected in their questions, comments and suggestions to the presenters. You can read about the presentation and our participation in the presentation in this issue of our award-winning newsletter, The Outer Edge. This was a great example of the byline of this column.

We are entering the holiday season, and it is not too early to think about purchasing gifts for friends and family. May I make a suggestion? Explore our CIPCUG website for ideas. For your friends who are interested in computers and related topics, you can purchase a subscription for TOE to be mailed monthly. Better yet, bring your friends to our meeting and let them experience our group, and then gift them with a membership. We offer all kinds of computer-related books and program software for purchase. Please check our website CIPCUG.ORG for information. Upgrade your membership to include your family members. Remind yourself of the benefits of membership — flash drives loaded with free programs, research items and reading material. Maybe then your family will understand your interest in all things digital. This type of gifting would certainly be different and original.

Does it seem to you that from October to January the time seems to fly by faster than usual? Start your gift searches now. Our November and December meetings will be held on the third Saturday of the month — Nov. 15 and Dec. 20 — so besides setting your clocks back an hour, our meetings come a week earlier than usual. Our board is discussing a December event, and information will be forthcoming.

Let’s send good wishes to our members who may be in need, especially during these most special of holidays. — Jim Brown, DC, CAN

Happy computing!
