The newest O’Reilly books available for review:

  • “Designing for Performance”
  • “Java Performance: The Definitive Guide”
  • “Real-Time Communication with WebRTC”

By the time this is published we hope Craig Ladd is home recovering from the hospital. His family members have been keeping people posted via Facebook. (More details on page 10.)

We need a volunteer to assist our secretary, Dianne Mortensen-Henderson. If you are available, please contact the board.

I hope our members were able to go to the Thousand Oaks Microsoft Store opening on May 13. Location and Hours: 350 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks; phone (805) 495-2032. Hours: Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

I hope to attend Bob Gostischa’s "So You've Got a New Computer, Now What?" presentation. I’ve attended other presentations by Bob, and they have always been excellent. At this point, I’m not certain I can attend. I will not have regular Internet access while I’m gone. The best way to reach me is the board.

I want to thank James Brown for covering Craig’s and my duties while we’re unable to.

Happy computing!
