Our thanks to Bill Shelton for his great genealogy presentation. Thanks, too, for his willingness to explore the possibility of having a SIG once or twice a month. I can be reached by phone or e-mail at the addresses above.

Again our CD for $5 of different free software programs was sold out. More CDs will be prepared for the next meeting. Each time we prepare these CDs we include the most recent update of the programs on previous CDs. We try to include something new, but sometimes, if there are no updates or new free programs, the CD will be the same as the previous month's. On the next CD we hope to add Legacy and Personal Ancestral File (free genealogy programs.)

The Board voted to allow free classified ads for members. Each ad is limited to 105 characters including spaces and to one ad per member per month. Copy has to be to John Weigle, editor of TOE, within the week after the regular meeting. Otherwise, the ad is held to the following month. John's e-mail address is We will be adding a form to the Web site for submission of these ads. But an e-mail with the ad copy of 105 characters or less can always be sent directly to the editor.

One of our most popular SIGs has been the one held by Michael Shalkey on the Saturday afternoons after our meeting. After the Board meeting, we learned that the Oxnard CompUSA store is planning to close ASAP. We may be able to hold the meeting there in March, but this will probably be our last month there.
