When Dylan first came home he was pretty much completely dependent on his mother, much as new-born puppies are. I was surprised, though, that his eyes were open right from the start. He grew slowly at first, as humans do, but we still were able to share many things. It was a source of great pride for me to see that he made it safely past his first birthday. Dylan continued to grow in his second year and we shared more and more as time passed. Living in coastal Southern California, many outings found us at the beach, or in some activity associated with being on or near the water.

Now past his second birthday, Dylan continues his busy pace. Except for weekends we don't get much time together. Before too long, though, we will be able to take walks together, just the two of us. That's something I'm really looking forward to.
