The President's Message

JULY 2005

David Harris

My two-year term as president has ended. I must say it was a very exciting two years. I was offered the position after being a member for only one year. My experience with the Cambria Computer Club helped guide me as well as the board members and those who attended board meetings to share their ideas.

We have gone through many changes: our meeting place, change of weeks, trying a new spot for after-the-meeting SIGs. This shows the flexibility of our club. I know from my APCUG conference that most clubs are losing between 5 percent and 12 percent annually; we seen to be holding our own with about a 7 percent loss. The main agreed reason is that so much information is available on the Web that the past need of sharing of ideas is slacking off.

I guess I want to say thanks to the many people who contributed their ideas, time and effort to keep CIPCUG as the leading club in our area. I look forward to assisting Lois in her new/old position and my serving as a board member for the next two years as past president.
