The President's Message

May 2012

Jim Brown

I was reviewing past issues of our TOE (seeking inspiration for this month’s column) and realized how fortunate our computer group is to have talented people willing to give of their time, volunteering to be of service and thus keeping this group alive.

These volunteers go about their work like as part of a team, encompassing a large spectrum of duties that result in the presentation of our monthly meetings, our monthly reports, and the mailing of our monthly newsletter -- The Outer Edge. Our monthly newsletter is quite an undertaking. John Weigle does a great job in correcting, organizing, editing and mailing to our printer the final form that we receive monthly. As I stated earlier, these volunteers are the backbone of this group, but I would like to offer a few of my suggestions where we might be of assistance to our computer group: Place an advertisement in TOE. This is free to our members, but you may have a service or skill that may be of benefit to our members.

Consider placing your old electronic equipment on our consignment table. This benefits our club as well as it does you.

Bring a guest to our meetings, give them the latest issue of TOE (we always have a few issues on hand), and introduce them and yourself to other members of the club.

Finally, let us know if you are interested in being a volunteer. If we have a need and it is something you have an interest in, the "fit" will benefit us all.

"GIVE YOUR COMPUTER A GIFT -- BECOME A MEMBER OF CIPCUG." Happy Mother’s Day.

Happy computing!
