Volunteers are needed. We need would like to create an e-mail drop box for members to submit questions to. We will need volunteers to answer e-mailed questions. Please let the board know if you have an expertise and are willing to answer e-mailed questions on the subjects.

Elections are coming. Per our bylaws, a president cannot serve two consecutive terms. Art Lewis is retiring from the treasurer position. Diane Mortensen has moved out of the area. We have three offices to fill. Please send the board any recommendations.

I want to thank the board, especially Craig Ladd and James Brown, for covering while I cared for my father. On Dec. 11, 2013, my father went for his regular checkup, and the doctor told him he was almost positive Dad had colon cancer. The following week the oncologist told him he had three weeks left. Dad died Feb. 11, 2015. The family pulled together, and I was able to take advantage of family leave. I was there every fourth week and when needed every other week. We were there almost every weekend. Usually when people die, we find ourselves saying we should have called or visited. My family and I take comfort knowing we did everything we could to make his time left as comfortable as possible. Thank you for your support during this difficulty time.

The Southwest Technology & Computer Conference is scheduled for June 12-14, 2015, at Cal Poly Pomona. The early registration rate is available until May 27. I volunteer as tech support every year, and I encourage our members to attend. There are presentations, workshops, door prizes, raffle items and a SWAG bag. There are opportunities to speak personally with sponsors. There is more information available at http://www.theswcc.org/.

Happy computing!
